Read the passage below very closely. We have entered a planet called Camazotz... What a strange place it is! Your mission, in teams is to replicate the setting that is described in the pages below. Think about your bricks, think about the computers, think about what is happening in the story. How will you replicate the mood of the story? How will you make the visuals match what is in your head? You will know you are successful if: -you have included symbols, objects, and elements of the story that are present in the writing -you have included signs that include short passages of the story that describe what we see -you have considered all of your senses -you have managed to create the same "mood" that is present in the story -you have worked as a team In the end, you will create a video walkthrough of Camazotz. This will be practice for your digital story telling project in Social Studies, so let's figure out all of the potential problems!
The exemplars here represent some of the best travel advertisements in the biz! Which ones are the best? Why? We'll use these to create criteria for our campaigns of our own...
The case studies below come from the book: How 30 Great Ads were Made. As you read through, focus careful attention on the use of emotion as a driving force for the concepts. How can you replicate this type of powerful messages in your advertising campaign? As a class we'll be looking at the Bravia Balls campaign, as well as the Coke campaign. The other two are just for those who are hooked and want to learn more!
Alright everyone, so below are the pictures we will be using to shrink the grade 1s. Choose one with your buddy, and shrink them down to size! Our grade 1 buddies have asked that we shrink them somehow... Today we practice! Use the QR Codes and save these pictures to your iPad.
Notebook files are below.
The instructions for our final project / exploration in Hatchet are below. Please review them regularly. In the end, we will be creating a visual journal reading response.
Step 1: Brainstorm. Connect your ideas with the story. Connect your ideas with others. Settle in on 3 to 5 major considerations for your final project. For example, the 5 most important items to bring, the 3 most significant virtues, or 3 most powerful examples of Brian and how he has changed. Step 2: Practice. Describe, in one paragraph, your first consideration. Receive feedback from classmates and your teacher. Step 3: Repeat this process for your next set of considerations. Each will be represented in a paragraph. Step 4: Find objects, symbols, or images that represent each paragraph. This is easy for the survival pack, but will be more difficult for virtues. Step 5: Using the artistic techniques practiced in class, complete your visual journal page. Step 6: How will you improve for next time? Post your visual journal in IRIS and reflect on your next steps. How could you improve for your next iteration? |
