Bored? Hanging out inside on a rainy day? Feel the need to practice some math? In class we have been playing Multiples War. For this, one card is flipped over. Whoever multiplies by the chosen factor wins the card. For example, you may choose to practice multiples of 9. If a 7 is flipped, the first person to say 63 gets the card. In the case of a tie, the card stays in the pile and the next card is flipped. Whoever has the most cards at the end is the winner. This activity is part of our exploration into one of our questions: Are area and arrays the same thing in multiplication? For this game, use cards or dice to make arrays (or is it area?). Use your space wisely! It would be awful if ran out of room and your opponent won! |
