What makes a healthy breakfast? We've started examining the food guide that is put out by the government of Canada. We've also looked at McDonalds and created a breakfast that we'd love to eat every day for a week (or a month!). Looking only at calories, I think we were all surprised to see how many calories we'd consume! Today, we will look at muscles... How do we help them grow? How do we prevent them from withering? Proteins! If you take your weight and divide in 2, you get (roughly!) the amount of protein you need to eat in a day. Think privately about your magic number... A & W has plenty of options. As you click around and build your breakfast, keep in mind that magical protein number described above. Wendy's sells itself as being a healthy option. Is that true? What separates it from others?

Bored? Hanging out inside on a rainy day? Feel the need to practice some math? In class we have been playing Multiples War. For this, one card is flipped over. Whoever multiplies by the chosen factor wins the card. For example, you may choose to practice multiples of 9. If a 7 is flipped, the first person to say 63 gets the card. In the case of a tie, the card stays in the pile and the next card is flipped. Whoever has the most cards at the end is the winner. Hey Everyone,
As we begin our exploration about healthy eating and active lifestyles, we're going to explore this page. What matters to you as a 9 or 10 year old child? How does math connect to this concept? |
